HOLY FOR THE FUTURE | TO THE FUTURE SERIES

Season 13 Episode 7

1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 NLT

Premise

⁃ Though our decision making has everything to do with pure morality and intentional righteousness, it is also true that God orchestrates moments, relationships, lessons, encounters, and experiences to develop you, sanctify you, and consecrate you in order to then establish you as Holy. Truth is, it is the Lord who MAKES us Holy according to His word. This is the posture needed for the future that God may be glorified in our lives.

Fundamental truths

1. The expectation of our Heavenly Father is that His children would reflect, represent, and reproduce His nature and character. This posture of Holiness serves as a standard and approach to the life of the disciple.

1 Peter 1:15 NLT

2. It’s never about being perfect but being perfected. You are Holy before you know how to be. Consistent surrender leads to consistent purification.

Philippians 1:6 NKJV

Ephesians 1:4 NLT

3. True service and worship to God begins with how we live. From this place we allow the word of God to find expression through our lives. The proper response to the mercy of God that we each have received through the sacrifice of The Lord Jesus dying for our sins is to in return live a holy life that is pleasing to Him.

Romans 12:1 TPT

Romans 12:1 NIV

4. Although Holiness is not righteousness, it is impossible to express holiness without righteousness. Holiness must be pursued otherwise you run the risk of never seeing the Lord.

Hebrews 12:14 NIV

5. Holiness must be developed continuously understanding that striving towards holiness is the mature response of a disciple to a perverse generation.

2 Corinthians 7:1 TPT

Acts 2:40 TPT

6. It is our responsibility as believers to become more like God. Understanding the heart of God leads to developing the conscious and will to satisfy God’s will over our own. Proof of true and authentic salvation means there is a clear difference between your life before Christ and after. Encounters with Christ lead to change. Without change there is no proof that you have encountered Him.

1 Peter 1:13-16 NLT

7. God has called us to Holiness. Therefore we have the responsibility to not only answer the call to express gifts, talents, and skills but holiness.

1 Thessalonians 4:7 NLT

Scriptural Insight

1. It is God who MAKES us Holy therefore it is imperative that we learn to let Him lead while we strive to obey. The posture of the true remnant of God is purity.

1 Thessalonians 5:23 NLT(a)

2. Although it is not easy it is possible to be KEPT by God. The more yielded we are to God’s word, voice, instruction, and wisdom, the lighter the journey becomes and the easier it is to surrender and obey.

1 Thessalonians 5:23 NLT(b)

3. God has committed to ensuring you have the grace, mercy, love, and power to accomplish His will which is to indeed live Holy. The question is will you let Him?

1 Thessalonians 5:24 NLT
