GUIDED BY A SIGN | THE GOSPEL OF MATTHEW

Premise 

Much like the wise men Christ Jesus has given us signs that guide us to the place in which He wants to reveal Himself. Once revealed we have the grand opportunity to surrender our faith, worship our king, and give our lives as well as all of what comes with it as treasure to glorify our God and savior Jesus Christ. 

Scriptural Insight 

You must have a strong expectation that when you search for Him you WILL find. The goal should be how we can worship Him not only what we can get from Him. Follow the SIGN! 

““Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star as it rose, and we have come to worship him.”” 

Matthew 2:2 NLT 

Never be alarmed when you start to notice not everyone is genuinely happy about who you are searching for and what you will/have found. Keep following the SIGN!

“King Herod was deeply disturbed when he heard this, as was everyone in Jerusalem. He called a meeting of the leading priests and teachers of religious law and asked, “Where is the Messiah supposed to be born?”” 

Matthew 2:3-4 NLT 

Be wise and careful as you will encounter those who are spectators and not worshipers. While you are looking for Jesus to worship others may be looking to debunk. Keep following the SIGN! 

“Then Herod called for a private meeting with the wise men, and he learned from them the time when the star first appeared. Then he told them, “Go to Bethlehem and search carefully for the child. And when you find him, come back and tell me so that I can go and worship him, too!”” Matthew 2:7-8 NLT 

Learn to go the way He is showing you! Not the way you necessarily feel but believe. There is joy in following Jesus! Once you locate Him surrender you will, gifts, and talents in worship of Him. 

“After this interview the wise men went their way. And the star they had seen in the east guided them to Bethlehem. It went ahead of them and stopped over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they were filled with joy! They entered the house and saw the child with his mother, Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasure chests and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.” 

Matthew 2:9-11 NLT 

Once the sign is revealed, FOLLOW! Never be afraid to go another way just because it isn’t the popular way. There is life attached to your obedience!
