DIVINE CONFIRMATION | THE GOSPEL OF MATTHEW

Season 16 Episode 6

“Jesus left Galilee and went to the Jordan River to be baptized by John. But John kept objecting and said, “I ought to be baptized by you. Why have you come to me?” Jesus answered, “For now this is how it should be, because we must do all God wants us to do.” Then John agreed. So Jesus was baptized. And as soon as he came out of the water, the sky opened, and he saw the Spirit of God coming down on him like a dove. Then a voice from heaven said, “This is my own dear Son, and I am pleased with him.””

Matthew 3:13-17 CEV

Premise

The life of Jesus teaches us that divine confirmation is a powerful tool in the hand of God signaling not only to you but those who watch your life that God is establishing His plan, approving your future, and verifying your position all at the expense of His plan and not your effort. Here’s the secret…..God can confirm because He ordained.

Scriptural Insight

1. It is when we leave what is familiar and submit to what is necessary that we position ourselves to receive divine confirmation. This type of obedience looks like doing the right thing, at the right time, in the right place. Because sometimes you have to leave “HERE” to get “THERE”.

“Jesus left Galilee and went to the Jordan River to be baptized by John. But John kept objecting and said, “I ought to be baptized by you. Why have you come to me?””

Matthew 3:13-14 CEV

2. When we learn to align ourselves with what God wants and submit to what God instructs we first prove to ourselves that we are ready for the “next”. In order to unlock the “next” you must submit and obey the “now”.

“Jesus answered, “For now this is how it should be, because we must do all God wants us to do.” Then John agreed.”

Matthew 3:15 CEV

3. It is not our actions that please God but our faith. When our faith finds expression it becomes the vehicle and precipice for manifestation and tangible results. Here’s the secret….God is pleased BEFORE you do anything. Live like it.

“So Jesus was baptized. And as soon as he came out of the water, the sky opened, and he saw the Spirit of God coming down on him like a dove. Then a voice from heaven said, “This is my own dear Son, and I am pleased with him.””

Matthew 3:16-17 CEV
